உயிர்ப்பு

இன்று காலையில் மின்னஞ்சல் பெட்டியை திறந்தால் ஒரே ஒரு மின்னஞ்சல். கூடப் படித்த ஒரு சிங்கள நண்பரிடமிருந்து வந்திருந்தது. அந்த நண்பர்பற்றி  கூற  வேண்டுமானால்,  மிகவும் நல்லவர். கூடப் படித்த காலங்களில் சக தமிழ் மாணவர்களுக்காக எல்லா  விதத்திலும் பேசவும், உதவிகள் செய்யவும் தயங்காதவர். தமிழர்களுக்கு எங்கே துன்பம் நேர்ந்தாலும், எங்களுக்கு முதலேயும், எங்களை விடவும் அதிகமாயும் அதற்காக கவலை கொள்பவர்.

சில காலத்திர்கு முன்னர், அவருடனும், வேறு சில அவரைப் போன்ற சில சிங்கள நண்பர்களுடனும், மின்னஞ்சல் மூலமாக இலங்கைப் பிரச்சனைபற்றி ஒரு பெரிய தொடர் விவாதம் போய்க் கொண்டிருந்தது. Australia வில் வாழும், தமிழர்களுக்காக குரல் கொடுக்கும் Brian Seneviratne என்பவரது ஒரு அறிக்கையை யாரோ எனக்கு அனுப்பியிருந்தார்கள். அதை நான் பலருக்கும் அனுப்பி வைத்தேன். ஒரு சிங்கள நண்பருக்கும் அந்த மின்னஞ்சல் போனதில், இந்த விவாதம் ஆரம்பித்தது.

அந்த விவாதத்தில் பல வகையான கருத்துக்கள் பலருடனும் பரிமாறிக்  கொள்ளப்பட்டன. சிங்கள நண்பர்களிடையே, அவர்களுக்குள்ளேயே பல கருத்து வேறுபாடுகள் இருந்தன. ஆனாலும் எல்லோரும் நண்பர்களாக இருந்ததில், ஒரு நட்புடனே அனைவரும் கருத்துக்களை சொன்னார்கள். அதிலே எனக்கும் அவர்களுக்குமிடையே, பல கருத்து வேறுபாடுகள் இருந்தாலும், அவர்கள் நல்ல நண்பர்கள் என்ற முறையில், அவர்களிடம் எனது கருத்துக்களை தயக்கமின்றி சொல்ல முடிந்தது. எனது தமிழ் நண்பர்கள் சிலர், “இவங்களிட்டை இதுகளை கதைக்காதையுங்கோ. எங்க கொண்டுபோய் எப்படி மாட்டி விடுவாங்களோ தெரியாது” என்று சொன்னார்கள். ஆனால் அந்த சிங்கள நண்பர்கள் விடயங்களை சொல்லும் விதத்திலும், தமிழர்கள் மேல் உண்மையான அக்கறையோடு  அவர்கள்  பேசியதாலும்,  ஏற்கனவே அவர்களைப்  பற்றி  நான்  தெரிந்து  வைத்திருந்ததாலும், அவர்கள்  மேலுள்ள  நம்பிக்கையாலும், அந்த விவாதத்தில் என் கருத்துக்களை தொடர்ந்து சொல்லி வந்தேன்.

இப்படி நாம் பேசிக்கொண்டே இருக்காமல், இந்த போரை நிறுத்த நாம் ஏதாவது செய்தால் என்ன என்று ஒருவர் கேட்டார் (அதாவது இன்று மின்னஞ்சல் போட்டிருந்த அதே நண்பர் முன்னரும் கேட்டிருந்தார்). சிங்கள, தமிழ் நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும்கூடி அதை செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லி, அவர் சில விடயங்களை முன்மொழிந்திருந்தார். அதிலுள்ள சில கருத்து வேறுபாடுகளை சொல்லிவிட்டு, இவையெல்லாம் நாம் செய்து நடை முறை சாத்தியமாகுமா என்ற எனது சந்தேகத்ததயும் அவரிடம் தெரிவித்திருந்தேன். அதேபோல்  மற்றவர்களும், முழுமையான ஈடுபாட்டைக் காட்டாததால், அந்த  தொடர்  விவாதம்  அத்துடன் நின்று போனது.  

இன்று அதே நண்பர் மீண்டும் ஏதாவது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற ஆர்வத்துடன், சில விடயங்களை முன்மொழிந்து மின்னஞ்சல் அனுப்பியுள்ளார். அவரது இந்த முன் மொழிதல்கள்பற்றி மற்றவர்கள் நினைப்பதுபற்றி அறிய வேண்டும் போல் இருக்கிறது. அதனால் அவரது மடலை கீழே இணைத்திருக்கிறேன். பார்த்துவிட்டு, உங்கள் கருத்துக்களை சொல்லுங்கள்.

அவர் சிங்களவராய் இருந்தும், இத்தனை அக்கறையெடுத்து ஏதாவது செய்ய முயற்சிக்கும்போது, பாதிக்கப்படும் (அல்லது அதிகமான பாதிப்புக்குட்படும்) தமிழராய் இருந்து நாம் அதில் ஏதாவது செய்ய வேண்டாமா என்ற கேள்வி எழுந்து உறுத்துகின்றது. அதே வேளை நாம் எதையும் செய்து எதையாவது சாதிக்க முடியுமா, அது சாத்தியமா என்ற அவநம்பிக்கையும் எழுகின்றது. அவருக்கு என்ன பதில் எழுதலாம் என்று யோசித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். உங்கள் கருத்துக்கள் எனக்கும் வழி காட்டலாம்.

Hope you guys are doing fine.

I had been planning to write this note for several weeks, but did not get a time
till today. This is again about the ethnic issue. I will make this as short as
possible.

According to my little knowledge, I feel that today every human should force the
govt and LTTE to stop their military campaigns immediately “once and for all”
and “in a genuine and practical way”. By saying “once and for all” I mean that
both parties should come to an ever lasting peace. By saying “genuine and
practical”, I mean that both groups should do this NOT to cheat each other
until they can regroup and resolidify.

I believe this is the responsibility of each Sri Lankan or each citizen on this
earth, who is concerned about continuing loss of lives, blood and every penny
with this war.

When I wrote you guys earlier, I proposed about appealing to the Govt. to stop the war and for implementing the 13th amendment (Rajeev formula) as the first step. That appeal
was mainly aimed at the govt, so, a Sinhalese could have initiated or lead that campaign. However, today, our appeals must be directed both to the govt and LTTE. We must urge both of them to stop their campaigns. Accordingly, the Tamil friends of ours should take the initiative to appeal to LTTE while our singhalese friends must take the initiative to appeal to the govt.

According to my understanding, today we can do the following:
1.      Appeal the govt of SL to pardon every member of LTTE including Prabhakaran
and Pottu Amman, get them pardoned by the Indian law enforcement agencies,
release all LTTE members in custody, hold provincial council elections for
North, and implement every step of the 13th amendment.

2.      Appeal LTTE to give up their military campaign, give up every piece of
weapon, and accept the 13th amendment as an initiating step for a political
solution

Please kindly think about this and let me know if there is any value of what I am writing, or if this is another naïve idea. Let me know if you have any kind of alternative ideas.
